Cornerstone Pediatric Rehabilitation

Hippotherapy is a highly effective therapeutic intervention where a therapist uses the inherent movement of a horse to influence a rider in ways that help them achieve their goals of improved sensory, motor or cognitive function. 

Hippotherapy is available year round and is conducted at Havendell Farms in Pittsboro, Indiana.  You may meet some of our great horse friends at havendellfarm.com.

 Hippotherapy is conducted by a licensed therapist and fees are billed through private insurers.  Private pay rates can be arranged. 

 All hippotherapy sessions are conducted under the direction of a Level II hippotherapy-trained physical therapist with more than 10 years of experience using horses to help children achieve.

 Physician permission is required to participate and Cornerstone Pediatric Rehab reserves the right to determine if a child is appropriate for hippotherapy. 

Who benefits from Hippotherapy?

• Children 2 and up who have motor, sensory motor, speech, cognitive or behavioral impairments stemming from neurological or sensory systems. 
• Children who currently participate in or have participated in the past in physical, occupational or speech therapies. 
• Children who have not yet reached their functional goals in traditional therapy or who wish to try a unique and effective method to reach additional goals.  
• Cornerstone Rehab reserves the right to final determination of a child’s appropriateness to participate in hippotherapy.
